Since being newly established as the Museum of the Rhine Province, the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn has enjoyed ongoing generous support from the Verein von Altertumsfreunden im Rheinland.
The Verein von Altertumsfreunden im Rheinlande was founded in Bonn on 1 October 1841 with the goal to "preserve, publicize, and explain historical monuments of all sorts, in particular those which stem from Antiquity and the Middle Ages in the Rhine River region, and to promote a lively interest in them."
The society has been pursuing these intentions since that time in the form of scientific publications, lectures, and the organization of excursions as well as financially supporting the library and collections of the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn. Members of the Verein von Altertumsfreunden im Rheinlande receive the Bonn Yearbook as a year-end present, as well as special price reductions for other publications brought out by the Verlag Philipp von Zabern.
New members are very welcome!

The LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn is one of Germany's oldest and most well-known museums. Its collections were founded as early as 1820.
Its first director was Wilhelm Dorow. This society unites men and women who share a special interest in art and archaeology, cultural history, and modernism. Through their friendly association with the museum, they play an active role in the life of this institution, its exhibitions, and events, successes and worries.
Members of the society meet regularly for special events, tours, excursions, and many other programs, which serves to establish new contacts and deepen existing friendships.

At the time of its founding in 1971, the Förderkreis Jugend im Museum e.V was the first museum society in Germany to take on the promotion of extra-curricular activities for young people in and around the museum. It looks back on more than 35 years of successfully working with children and teenagers.
This society works together with the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn. The work of the Circle of Friends may only be accomplished through the dedication of many volunteers as well as donations and contributions from the members.
The Förderkreis Jugend im Museum e.V. organizes leisure time and school holiday courses for children and teenagers aged 8 and up. Based on the collections at the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn, our programs deal with all epochs and themes of Rhineland history, culture, and art, from Neanderthal Man up to today.
In doing so, the young people learn much useful knowledge even as they discover their own handcraft skills. In addition, artist and craftsman aids and techniques from earlier epochs are explained and used.
Thus, for example, in the workshops ship models, model houses and villas, game boards, mosaics, clay figures, or clothing are crafted. The originals from the museum collections serve as our practical models. Among other things, we offer: Programs for the school holidays, practical courses, excursions...
Come and join in!
There are many possibilities for supporting our work. We cordially invite you to become a member of our Circle of Friends, and/or to join our group of volunteers. We are looking for mothers and fathers, grandmas and grandpas, retirees who can help take care of the children, in short: persons who are dedicated and want to have fun while pursuing the goals of the Circle of Friends. No special knowledge is required for this.

This society supports photography at the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn. It administrates its own important collection, which enriches the museum's collection as a permanent loan. The Gesellschaft Photo-Archiv e.V. supports research having to do with photography, and promotes it as an individual art form through exhibitions and events.
The society was founded by Gregor Betz and Klaus Honnef in Bonn in 1975 upon the basis of the photographs contained in the estate of Liselotte Strelow. It has been expanded to include extensive collection holdings since that time.
