Leo Breuer, „Der Kohlenmann“ (Öl auf Holz), 1931
Leo Breuer, „Sitzendes Mädchen“ (Öl auf Holz), 1928
This tour deals with art in the Rhineland after World War II. This is a time of change and searching for new artistic possibilities. Various trends in art are all united in the goal of freeing art from any restrictive formalism. Speed, improvisation, and the moment of chance play a new, important role in the art of Hann Trier, for example. Other artists such as Leo Breuer pursue a path that leads from abstraction to a stringent exploration of geometric laws.
